Two Roads Diverged In a Wood, And I

I took the one less travelled by,

And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Hello, world.

I am in Savannah, Georgia. Starting my postgrad- Masters in Writing at SCAD (short for Savannah College of Art & Design).

I feel like I’m on a really fast roller coaster (even though I terribly fear them), and things seem to be flying like a rocket for me ever since I left Pakistan.

I honestly have no words, because this is a big change in my life. When most girls my age are forced to marry and start a family, I have been given the choice of living abroad, in the good old US of A, and take my future in my hands.

I had given up, truly. When I got the acceptance at SCAD and expressed my excitement to go there, my parents and family did not agree. In their eyes, I was 26 and unmarried, getting old and nearing my expiration date. However, one day in November, my parents just came up to me and told me that they will support my decision to go to SCAD despite what everyone says or thinks.

And so, I applied for and got my student visa, and here I am. I’ll march my band out.
I will beat my drum,
And if I’m fanned out,
Your turn at bat, sir,

I can sing this whole damn song, and I have realized that I am a theater nerd as well.

To new beginnings!

I’m in Bali!

The last time I was here, it was 20 years ago when I was 5ish. I don’t remember much, but I do remember the sweet roasted corns and the street shops bustling with tourists, also that time at the safari when the giraffe poked his head in the window of our car and smiled at me. 😂😂

This is the twins’ first time here, though and we have new memories to make. ☺️

Back in Pakistan

Hey guys. I’m home now. My days in UK were quite busy, had no time to post. We just got home and the flight from Istanbul to Karachi was horrible. HORRIBLE. My legs are cramping, my upper body is stiff and my neck hurts. 😫😫😫

We always fly with Emirates, but Turkish Airlines was cheaper, and so dad decided to book that. But never again am I setting foot in that plane again. 😒 Especially the one that goes to Pakistan. Because I’ve seen that the plane from London to Istanbul, and vice versa, is really nice with spacious seats and huge leg room space. But they give us the pathetic planes from Karachi to Istanbul and vice versa. The seats are not meant for a tall person, especially on long flights such as this one.  😕😕😕

Hey guys. We arrived in Norwich two days ago. It’s colder here since the last time I was here. Also, it just keeps drizzling all the time, which is cool I guess, but the constant rain is kinda annoying me now… 😕😏

Don’t get me wrong, I love this city! 😍😍😍 I find Norwich very beautiful and breathtaking! ❤️ And I’m so happy my sister is going to study here for 4 years! That means I’ll get to visit a lot. 😂☺️☺️☺️

She’s starting her undergrad from University of East Anglia and the campus is very impressive! 😍 My parents want me to apply for masters here but I prefer to study in the US. Let’s see what happens. 😁

We had my sister settled in her room today and mom bought her all the cleaning supplies etc and set up the things at her dorm.

While parents were helping her move in, I waited in the lobby/reception and met some very sweet boys who were from Pakistan, too. They’re one semester ahead of my sister, and in a different program. They probably won’t have classes together but it’s always nice to know someone from your own country.

Sitting in the lobby, talking to them, made me feel as if I was home and not in a foreign place. They were really sweet and fun, and genuinely nice boys. I helped my sister make friends with them as she’s quite shy and doesn’t make the first move when it comes to talking and meeting new people.

Anyway, here are a few pictures! 😌

New Years from London

Hey guys! I arrived in London on Monday. We are here for 12 days. My sister is starting her undergrad university here from the 4th of Jan, so we are here to drop her off. Parents want to stay longer because they wanna make sure she settles well on campus before they leave her on her own.

I love the weather! 😍❤️ It’s been raining on and off since two days and it’s very cold. ☔️👌🏼 A very nice change from Pakistan where it’s hot all the time. I wish it’d snow, too. 😍❄️☃

I’m in London

Hello, hello. It’s been a while since I posted here. This week was really busy for me and I had literally no free time.

I am in London with my family. We got here today. Since my little twin brothers have school, we left them with my aunt and uncle. I miss the twins so much btw. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Anyway. London again. I’m absolutely in love with London at this time of the year! It’s so cold and the trees are so beautiful and it rained too, today. 😍😍😍😍 This is a nice change for us, because Pakistan especially Karachi, where we live, is super super hot. 🙁😓

This time in UK we aren’t here for holidays. My sister is starting her undergrad uni here soon and parents wanted to check out her university and campus and look at her accommodation, too. You know how parents are. They can’t rest until they’re satisfied with everything! 😂

And while I’m here, I’ll also check out a few universities for masters. I’m kinda leaning towards Creative Writing here. 🙌🏼🌟🌟🌟

I’ll be quite busy this week! Very tough schedule. I’ll try posting pictures though! ☺️☺️☺️

Mauritius: Day 1 (in pictures)

Okay. So, You all know what I think of Mauritius. I posted about it in my previous blog post. You can read it here.

So, this is my Day One in Mauritius. We visited so many places. I fell in love with every single one of them. The nature, the mountains, the forests, the beauty. Wow… I am truly amazed and totally speechless. Beautiful. You might notice I don’t have pictures of the beach. That’s probably because, unlike many people, I do not very much like the beach. I haven’t gone down there since I got here.

Anyway. It’s a little late, I know, been busy, but here are the pictures!
